Well, I know I've only been on IM like twice in the last month or so but life is busy. I was sick last week but getting better now. We got our income tax cheque and were able to pay off the vet and buy Mackenzie a decent set of drums. He's taking the hour lessons now instead of the half hour sessions. He loves it.
My brakes failed utterly today. I sailed right through a stop sign. No one was coming thankfully! I'd like to think I'd have applied the emergency brake in that case but honestly, it happened so quickly. I got it stopped by absolutely reefing on the pedal just around the corner as I wasn't going fast anyway. Not fun! Funnily enough, by backing up around the corner to my house, foot over the emergency brake in case, I was able to slow back down and back into my driveway.

Last week, Mackenzie was doing some spelling homework while I did dishes and we heard this huge crash in the backyard. We both went running, expecting that our window would be broken it had been such a loud noise. I opened the back door and looked under the window to see a huge wing emerge from under a pile of snow, move once and then stop. I had no idea what it was and I yelled to Mackenzie to get some towels. When I got to the bird, feet clad only in crocs, I looked down and the wing had stopped flapping. I dug him out of the snow and he tried to right himself but couldn't so I turned him up on his feet and he just fell over. So I picked him up and folded his wings in and brought him in the house with his head covered. He was peregrin falcon!
